As part of MOE’s continuous vision of education development plans and programs, the International Educational Programs Office participated in the GLOBE Annual Partner Meeting and 2014 GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) in New Delhi, India from 3-8 August 2014. GLE aims at showcasing students’ scientific projects from around the world as well as providing an excellent venue for GLOBE students from around the world to interact with scientists and with each other. The Omani delegation includes Nathera Al Harthi,  the National Coordinator, supervisors and one student from each winning projects groups.

300 participants from 32 countries from the globe took part in this event as the Sultanate represented several captivating audience attention projects, as part of GLOBE competition,  including “Cracking of buildings in the Willayat of Manah in Hay AlJama District” by students from Sheikh Mohammed bin Masoud AlBusaidi School of Basic Education (5-10) from Al Dhakilia Governorate, whereas students from Sheikh Salim bin Hamoud Al Siyabi School of Basic Education (5-10) from Muscat Governorate shed lights on “The relation between mangrove trees and vital marina environment in Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman”.

Nathera Al Harthi, the National Coordination, mentioned that students’ participation in such programs gives them opportunity to present their solutions of the most prominent local ecological concerns and issues  in order to change our daily lifestyle to achieve environmental sustainability. Until today, 600 students benefit from this program in the Sultanate which helps them to raise up their awareness and develop their creative potentials. The program also helps students to apply what they study their subjects such as geography and science in practical ways, and develop their creativity and innovation skill sets.
