Specialised Teacher’s Training Centre Installed

The Ministry of Education launched yesterday the Specialised Centre for Teachers’ Vocational Training under the auspices of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Education Council, in the presence of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, a number of their excellences, honourable members of the State Council and members of Majlis Ash’shura and Directors-General at the Ministry’s HQs’ and Educational Governorates.

The Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court said that the Centre aims at empowering teachers,  active players in the development of education process through utilising the best education means that meet international quality standards.

Saud bin Salim al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education Planning and Human Resources Development, said in his speech that the Centre compliments the future vision of the Ministry which seeks to establish specialised training centres, such as the National Centre for Vocational Guidance and the Education Assessment and Examination Centre.

The Centre aims at developing the academic criteria and the quality of in-class pedagogy, as well as prepare a generation of teachers who are self-motivated and are ready for introducing the required changes in the education system while maintaining its sustainability.

Through its programmes, the Centre seeks to train and rehabilitate teachers and educators who love their profession and who are skilled, self-confident, self-motivated and who can enhance the status of teachers in society by advising them of the mission they is doing and the key role they play in the progress of the nation.

The Centre includes 30 Omani trainers. It is also supported by international expertise while designing and implementing the training courses.

The opening ceremony included a video on the Centre, the programmes it renders and a training course for teachers, supervisors and administrative staff.

The chief guest, the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Education Council accompanied by the Minister of Education toured the centre which includes about 56 training rooms, library, computer lab, science lab, mini teaching room, meeting rooms, restaurant and prayer room.
