Under the auspices of Mohammed Al Tobi, the end of the second Arab language Symposium

The second Arabic language Symposium was concluded under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Tobi adviser to the Ministry of Education

During the Final session, four working papers were displayed about teaching and learning reading in the Sultanate of Oman. Local experiences and recommendations were presented in this symposium which lasted for three days.

In the second day's sessions of the symposium there were discussions about the strategic plans to improve learning to read. A set of worksheets and experiences about improving reading of a number of countries in the world were reviewed. The first worksheet was presented by Dr. Maher Shaaban, titled loud thinking of reading strategies. He discussed the application of loud thinking in teaching reading strategies. Mary Jane presented about reading and writing learning strategies in schools of province of Ontario. It is a part of a comprehensive strategy, starting from kindergarten to twelfth grade. She revealed evidences about the application of the strategy of learning reading and writing and its outputs in schools of province of Ontario. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Ghaferi presented (my city reads) within the first working session. A Working paper was presented by Kitty Mueller about the “Read Project”. The Office (Read Project) started ten years ago in Florida. The third session was concluded with the multi-sensory strategy. It was presented by Khawla Al Maamari and it aims to enable students to master the requirements in class. In the second day of the Arabic language symposium (teaching and learning reading), four interactive workshops were held by the participants.  Saeeda Al Hassaniah presented a workshop about the project (my activity is the secret of my success).
