Global Meeting on Education at Muscat Next Week
The Sultanate of Oman ,represented by MOE , in collaboration with the UNESCO hosts Global Education Meeting(GEM) , secluded during the period (12-14) at the current month in AL Bustan Hotel .
The participants represent 50 delegations and are led by the Ministers of Education, EFA sponsoring agencies, the Global Partnership for Education For All, multilateral and bilateral agencies, the United Nations and regional organizations, teaching profession groups, civil society organizations, EFA Leaders, representatives from the private sector, and research institutes and foundations.
"The importance of this meeting lies in the fact that it is the last meeting before the Global Meeting of the World Education Forum to be held in Korea in 2015," said Mohammed Saleem Al Yaqoubi, Secretary of the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and the National Coordinator for EFA. He also added that "The GEM aims at discussing and analyzing the progress made so far to achieve the six EFA goals endorsed by the Education Forum of Dakar 2000, as part of the EFA Initiative, when it was agreed to exert all efforts and endeavors to achieve these goals by 2015,".
