“Protecting Environment in Wadi Halfin” wins bronze in the Environment Olympics

    MOE represented by the students Khalfan bin Mohammad al-Mahrouqi and Wadhah bin Hamoud al-Raqmi got the bronze medal in the 8th Environment Olympics held in Azerbaijan for the project called "Protection of Wadi Halfain". They were honored yesterday in the presence of a large gathering of people interested in scientific projects.

   The Sultanate's participation in the Olympics stems from the belief in the importance of the environment and preserving it from the risks that threaten it, beginning from school environment which builds and prepares the scientific life and which encourages students to search for solutions for many issues and problems surrounding them.

   The 8th Environmental Olympics in Azerbaijan is an annual event that organizers work to keep it going and expanding by attracting larger numbers of participants from different countries of the world. 

   The Olympics began with (17) countries. (51) Countries participated in this year's version, presented 120 local and international projects. The host country is keen to participate with a large number of students environmental projects. The students compete in four areas: environment and community service, energy, engineering and chemistry.
