The third annual forum for databases specialist supervisors and educational portal divisions in the governorates of the Sultanate was held on Saturday morning 10th of December 2011 at the Ministry of education theatre.

The forum is one of the best initiatives adopted by the General Directorate of Information Technology. It aims to promote communication between officials in the Directorate with various departments, administrators and databases specialists to enrich them with technical work developments that affect their jobs. In addition it aims to exchange views and experiences to come out with recommendations to achieve greater success in serving the educational community in the Sultanate.

There were two discussion sessions in the first day of the forum where the participants discussed some issues related to the portal, such as portal divisions’ challenges in the governorates, follow-up mechanism of portal divisions’ achievements, network and communications challenges, technical support challenges and Directorate plan to operate the portal.

There was another meeting in the evening in Al Jawhara Hall at Safeer Intercontinental. It was led by Director of Information Systems at Directorate General of Information Technology and in presence of all directors, deputies and heads of departments in the governorates.
 The meeting included the following points:
- Proposals and recommendations of the discussion sessions in the morning.
- Method of communication between information systems and educational portal divisions.

In the second day 11th of December 2011, they discussed the forum recommendations and proposals.
