French as an elective subject in post education schools
The Ministry Of Education installed the French language as an elective subject in Post Basic Education classes 11& 12. The implementation has started this academic year 2013/14 in four schools as a drafting start. This step is a delivery of the ministry strategic plan to add variety to elective subjects and to add more options in languages study where it has already presented the Dutch language in 2012/2013 in 5 schools.
In regard to choices and consideration that propelled the project, His Excellency the undersecretary of education pointed out that the French language is a language of knowledge, culture and science and it’s the second widespread language after English in the world.
He also said that acquiring a language is considered to be a strong signal of communication and cultural connectivity between the civilized nations .He also said that having such education shall open the doors for the Omani students to log in to wider academic and professional line of business in line with the adopted strategic vision of economic poles parts policy.
