The Ministry of Education represented by the Directorate General Of Private Schools implemented exchange experience program in Safeer Continental Hotel Muscat between period 24-26 November.
The program aimed to take advantage of educational programs and experiences applied by international schools through reciprocal visits with those schools in order to take advantage of them and to transfer it in educational field. (20) Schools participated in this program including (12) private schools and (8) international Schools. The visits were divided into two visits during the first day. The visits theme was "reading culture" and studying the techniques in order to spread the reading culture and improve students reading skills.
The goal of the program was to strengthen relations between participants, to view international educational projects, programs and experiences, to exchange experiences in educational field, to enhance participant’s professional capacity and to implement the experiences, models and successful ideas into educational programs commensurate with the Ministry's policy.
The program targeted number of supervisors, senior teachers, teachers, schools principals, their deputy and support functions for faculty and administrative authority.
(30) Teachers from government schools, basic education supervisors of Arabic and English language subjects from all educational Directorates in the Sultanate, (5) teachers from international and private schools. They were divided into four groups, each group contained (8 to 10) teachers and supervisors and visited four different schools through the program period .
Implementation Procedures
The program implementation program included field visits to schools, meeting officials such as teachers, principals and held reflection seminars after each visit in order to exchange ideas and to report aspects and plans and fill in forms to evaluate the program.
Participants Experiences
Raweeh bint Khalfan Alshukili, basic education supervisors in Directorate of Education in Al Dakhliyah, mentioned that she gained new teaching methods and skills which helps to achieve goals of educational process and enhance skills needed to develop students self-confident.
Fakrih Albalushi, English Language Teacher in Directorate of Batinah South, mentioned that through the visits they learn more innovative ideas and programs implemented in those schools.
Among the ideas they hope to implement are to organize reading projects annually, participate in international reading competition, implement international programs to encourage readings and involving parents to develop reading skills of their kids.
