DR Amina bint Obaid bin Ramdan AlHajriah was elected for position of Assistant Director General out of (7) candidates who represented member states in the organization permanent headquarter in Rabat.
In the vote, 29 countries voted for the Omani candidate to win the position for three years, to be renewable, starting from 1st January. It’s worth mentioning that it is the first time that a woman hold this position in the organization which reflects women status and abilities in the Islamic world.
This achievement coincides with women's day celebration in the Sultanate. Dr. Amina Al Hajjri said that winning this position is an evidence of Omani women's ability to compete professionally at international levels. She dedicated this achievement to His Majesty the Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed who is the Omani women’s first supporter and to all Omani women.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Amina Al Hajjri holds PHD in educational Statistics from Plymouth University in UK. She worked as secondary school teacher (1996-1999) in the Ministry of Education and then as statistical analysis in the same ministry during the period (2001-2003).During the period (2003-2011) she worked as an assistant professor in Collage of Applied Science in Rustaq. Currently she worked as director of Scientific Research Center in Ministry of Higher Education. She participates in many local, regional and international conferences and seminars.
