The Sultanate Marks the Literacy Day
The Sultanate of Oman, The Ministry of Education marked the world Literacy Day for 2013 which coincides the 8th of January as proclaimed by UNESCO in 1965.The day stands as a reason for the world nations to activate its program in literacy.
The Sultanate has always intensified its efforts to eradicate illiteracy and worked collaboratively with various national and international organizations through deployment of well-planned programs to educate people of nation and invested all means to achieve quantitative and qualitative development in shortest possible time. The Sultanate has been successful in reducing the illiteracy percentage from 22% to 12% according to key indicators of 2010 Population Census.
