Ministry of Education represented by Activities and Student Awareness Department concluded the 1^st school competition for chess 2012/2013. The events held at Sultan Qaboos sport complex in Bowsher, sponsored by His Excellency Mohammed Hamdan Al-Tubi, MOE advisor. The event attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al- Nahyan, President of Federation of Afro Asian chess; Mahdi Al-abduani, Chairman of Oman National Ferries company the sponsor  of chess competition. On the Governorates level, Al-Dhahira reaped the 1^st place, Al-Dakhlia the 2^nd and Dhofar the 3^rd.

 At the individual level, Mohammed Shaker Mohammed from Al-Wasta Governorate got the 1^st place with (6) point, Mohammed bin Salem Al-Kalbani from Al-Dhahira Governorate won the 2^nd place with (5.5) point, and Emad bin Salim Al-Baloshi from Muscat Governorate came the 3^rd place with (5) point.
