The training workshop about Royal Shakespeare Company was recently concluded at Safeer Intercontinental Hotel – Khuwair . It was organized by Ministry of Education, represented by the international educational programs Office, in collaboration with the British Council and Royal Shakespeare Company.

The seminar was aimed at a number of Specialists and supervisors of theatrical activity in four Educational Directorates: Muscat, South Batinah, North Sharqiya, and Dakhiliya.  The goal of the program was to support teachers in developing their skills, knowledge and confidence in teaching Shakespearean literature, and other literature as well. It also aims to develop the capacity of supervisors at the educational Directorate to deal with theater education and introduce students to world theater literature.
Royal Shakespeare Company program contains four different phases extended for a full academic year. These training sessions were the first phase of the program. The trainees must apply what they have learned in their schools through preparation for a play in Shakespearean literature and train their students on the strategies they learned.  The second phase begins in January 2012. One of the experts who carried out the workshop is going to visit schools to follow the progress and provide necessary support. The third phase is the evaluation phase, where each participating school documents its theatrical performance by video.
s will be sent to the United Kingdom for evaluation. These stages conclude by inviting supervisors and students who done the best theatrical work to attend the student festival theater in the United Kingdom in 2012, which will be part of the cultural Olympiad.
