Minister of Education left to Hungary to deliver Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Protection

H.E Dr. Madiha bent Ahmed Shebaniah, Minister of Education and her accompanying delegation left the Sultanate yesterday heading to the Hungarian capital Budapest.

She is going to deliver Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Protection, in celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development, which will be held on Thursday at Sciences Academy in Hungarian capital Budapest.  Her Excellency was seen off by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Toobi advisor in the ministry.

On this occasion, H.E Dr. Madiha said that the celebration of Sultan Qaboos bin Said award for environmental protection is a confirmation of the his faith  - may God protect him - of the importance of preserving the global environment, the need to preserve and develop their resources to ensure optimal continuity of life in various areas.

She added that Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Protection is an international encouragement and motivation for outstanding contributions and dedicated efforts of all individuals and groups, institution and organizations concerned with the environment.
It has been announced earlier this week that Nigerian Institute for Forestry Research in Nigeria won the Prize. The decision of UNESCO to customize the award to the Nigerian Institute was based on the recommendation from the Office for international coordination of the UNESCO program of man and biosphere "MAB “.
