The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) is delighted to invite students and staff of Sultan Qaboos University to take part in Earth Hour 2013 by switching off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 from 8:30 – 9:30 pm local time. For the past 6 years, millions of people around the world joined hands to participate in the largest global voluntary initiative ever, Earth Hour, in order demonstrate their concerns about the future of our planet by doing something simple, yet remarkable - they turn off their lights for one hour on the last Saturday in March at 8:30 pm local time. Last year, as a result of the collaborative efforts from all our partners, we were able to calculate that during Earth Hour 2012 we saved 53,430 KWH of energy in Oman (enough to power 7000 households for one hour!). ESO invites you as well to take the Oman Earth Hour challenge “I Will If You Will” by signing the pledge in the website www.omanearthhour.org. ESO Board and Staff members will organize and participate in a spring clean up if 2000 individuals and companies accept the challenge to turn off lights on March 23rd, 2013 from 8:30 to 9:30 PM by signing this pledge
