 Educational meeting was held at Majan Hall at Muscat Directorate General about Shell Road Safety competition 2011. The aim this year is to modify undesirable practices of traffic for traffic conscious generation. 

 A number of  participants presented their projects and researches. Alia bent Rashid Al Soutiah from Rabi'a Al Adawiyah School in Qiryat reviewed her research. She made a proposal to reduce traffic accident and she made some recommendations like spreading traffic awareness among students, rehabilitating roads in line with the urban development. Also, teacher Maryam bent Said Aisaiah from Al Naba Basic Education School presented her  research, which aims to spread awareness about speeding and its risks among students, teachers and school bus drivers.
  Hilal bin Yahya Mawali General Manager of External Communications at Shell Development Oman spoke about motor accidents' facts and figures  showing deaths and injuries in the Omani society according to sex, age and groups.
  Also Dr. Khalfan bin Nasser Al-Jabri, Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University and a member of the award team reviewed objectives of the award and its fields, axes, conditions, criteria for evaluating the works and timetable for delivery of posts. He explained that the award aims to increase awareness among school community and encourage participation to enhance the knowledge, values and trends of traffic. Students and teachers can participate by doing projects, workshops, researches, writing stories and making graphics about excessive speed, wearing seat belt, using mobile phone while driving, wrong overtaking and safety distance.
”Shell has initiated this important annual awards and conducts it jointly with its outstanding partners, the Ministry of Education and Royal Oman Police in attempt to raise road safety awareness and embed its principles among the various segments of society in general; but with more emphasis on younger generations who are going to be the future drivers and road users.” Stated Hilal bin Yahya Al Ma’wali, General Manager for External Affairs in Shell Development Oman.
