Oman Education Portal has been announced winner in Pan Arab Web Awards, (PAWA-2011) as the Best Interactive Facebook Application on the social networks (MOE, on Facebook). The award was collected in a ceremony held at Al-Bustan Rotana in Dubai on 29th of April, 2012. 

Oman Education Portal, MOE, continues its reputable institution of winning record since it was first established in 2007, a signal of intelligent innovation and comprehensive modernization; an attestation billed by international and domestic institutions.

 It is to be noticed that this reward is considered as an assertion of the avid efforts made by MOE to deploy technology to achieve best possible services. The social networks (Facebook…etc.) is an important tube that contributes to closer interaction and communication between the Ministry and its clients: students, teachers, administrators and parents. The portal’s page on “Facebook” was chosen as the best one, having outran others in its distinguished style in communication and interaction with public.

The guiding principles of the portal policy have earlier adopted plans to incorporate all community sectors in dealing with education focuses, among which, using electronic channels of communication. Having done this, we demonstrated the good use of dialogue interchanges tubes to discuss ideas and provide convincing response to people thoughts and queries. This strategy gave the portal respect and helped us to draw more visitors from all spheres of pedagogic community.   
 
This victory is an indicator of the ministry’s success in deploying social networking to achieve its institutional connectivity and media outreach goals.  Furthermore, the ministry accomplished rapid dissemination in the same field using other tools to draw participation such as using e-mail with (MOE) domain for direct contact.

It should be noted that the Oman Education Portal page on Facebook was   created on the 9th, August. 2011, and despite its relative novelty, it has saved no effort in meeting public interests and queries;  Trusting that this would feasibly increase awareness about e-government services related to schooling and fatherly anchor the Educational Portal “The Beating Heart of Education” identity  in the sentiments of broader segment of society.

7-  Innovative Design award of E-government Shield Award in Arab world in 2010.

8-  Second place award in the category of ministries websites for Arab region in 2010.

9- Best e-Readiness Award, best developed ministry electronically in the competition of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-government services – 2010.

10-   First place award in United Nations competition in the category of improving services delivery to the public in 2011.

11-  Middle East Award for best e-initiatives in 2011.

12-  First place award in the category of ministries websites for the Arab region in 2011.

13-  Visual innovation award of E-government Shield Award Competition in Arab World in 2011.

14-  Second place award for best educational website in the Sultanate of Oman in 2011.

15-  Best e-portal award in the category of development sectors in GCC in 2011.

16-  Best eProject Individual award in the competition of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-government services – 2011.
