Follow up of GLOBE program at the Sultanate’s schools.
The Educational Programs library is carrying out a number of visits to Muscat, AL-Dhahira and North AL-Sharqiah schools applying GLOBE program.
The visiting team (team of GLOBE) presented an orientation workshop about the program to familiarize school’s administration and teachers about the program. The workshop contained an identification of the program content, its goals, its protocols and the mechanisms of its work. This presentation was followed by a discussion sessions to stand on students and teachers opinions about the program.
Asma bint Salim AL-Bolushi the “program coordinator in Oman” met a group of teachers and supervisor in the regions to discuss the student's work and replay to questions and queries about the material needed to apply the program. In addition to suggesting a number of activities for students such as: celebration of Earth's day, the international day of water and GOLBE at night.
This program is being applied it in three governorates: Muscat, AL-Dhahira and AL-Sharqiah North. It aims to improve the environmental awareness of students, self-learning and research skills, promoting teamwork and improving the level of learning of students in science, social studies and Math skills.
This program also gives teachers and students a chance to talk to others around the world through this program. It's includes practical tasks for students such as taking accurate measurements of environment components such as: temperature of the atmosphere, land pH as well as to study the types of clouds, stratums of lands, water's transparency and intensity of land's cover and other.
