  The department of statistics and indicators, the directorate General for planning and Quality Control at the Ministry of Education, in collaboration and coordination with the Department of planning and Quality Control Directorate General of Education in Muscat governorate organized a meeting about electronic archiving of statistical books.

 The meeting was held at Majan Hall at Muscat Directorate building. The meeting was under the auspices of Mrs. Sana Bin Hamed Al Busaidi, Director-General in the governorate of Muscat. Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Zadjali director of department of statistics and indicators gave a speech in which he said: “a statistical tool has become very important as it’s an applied science serving all areas of life and providing appropriate solutions in the fields of applied science such as economics, medicine, engineering, education, sociology, etc.
He stressed that the Ministry of Education continues to enhance the quality of statistical data by providing a variety of ways and developing methods of presentation through the issuance of books, statistical paper and electronic version and providing them through the portal. Electronic archiving of statistical books is one of the development projects in the Directorate General for Planning and Quality Control. The Department of Statistics and Indicators have implemented it through collecting the statistical paper books since 1970 until 2011 in e-books. It aims to facilitate access to statistical data by the recipients whether they are researchers or students. In addition, it is easier for decision makers in the Ministry to access to the information. Also Rahma Mohammed Al Mahroqi head of statistics and information department presented a paper on the reality of statistical work in the Ministry. And Faris Bin Saeed Al-Farsi gave a presentation about statistical publishing in the Ministry. He talked about the stages of implementation of the project.  Maha Bint Mosa Al Najjar, a member in statistics department explained in her paper “project procedures” that this project will make it easier for the researchers to access to the original sources of data.
