In the framework of partnership between Ministry of Education and private sector, Microsoft International Company organized (Digigirls) which targeted 100 excellent students in using technology from South Sharqiya governorate in cooperation with Information Technology Division in the governorate and Information Technology Department in the Ministry.

The program included the Ministry’s word done by Issa ben Khalfan Al Anqoodi, deputy director of Information Technology Department for e-learning and Microsoft Company word done by Sheikh Saif Al Hosni, the company representative in the sultanate. Then some useful computer programs were presented for girls such as educational games which improve creativity and innovation in using technology and they also learned about the mice multi-program and solving mathematic problems program in an innovative way and some other licensed programs from Microsoft Corporation.

Also there was a discussion seminar about using technology in practical and family life and how can girls keep working in different technologies in the future without effecting family side. They presented some examples of successful women in this area. The discussion seminar hosted Dr. Izzat Al SHinawi, leader of Education and Citizenship Initiative in GCC and Dr.Basma Taifoor from the Sur Technical College and Asma Al Oraimi, computer and information system engineer in the Oman Indian Fertilizer Company and  she is a professional development specialist in the directorate general of education in the governorate. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Mohammed Al Mukhaini, deputy director of Information Technology division in the governorate.      

Microsoft Company will implement this event a gain at the end of March in South Batinah Directorate. This event started in Muscat in 2009 and then to other governorates. It was implemented in Al Dhakhilya governorate in 2010. The Ministry plans to implement this event in cooperation of Microsoft International Company in all governorates by next year.
