Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Celebrates International Day of Woman in Science

Under patronage of Dr Suad Al Lawati, Vice Chairperson of State Council, the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science celebrated yesterday the international day of woman and girl in science in Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The seminar aimed to encourage successful women to pursue their efforts in scientific research and innovation, as well as to highlight the importance of benefiting from scientific research in industry to contribute in the national economy. The program also included two awards for a fellowship program L#Oreal-UNESCO for Women in Science for the Middle East, for the GCC States Gulf and Yemen, presented by Dr Lamyia Al Haj and Dr Athraa Al Mawali. Dr Suad Al Lawati mentioned that it is important to celebrate this occasion, which sheds light on models of leading Omani women in the fields of science. She added that their inspirational experiences, which is an incentive for Omani girls and young women, creating the internal motivation and determination to achieve achievements and ambitions in the field of innovation and discovery of products and methods that will contribute in building the national economy. At the end, Dr. Raya AlMantheriya held a dialogue session.
