The Directorate General of Social Development at Dhofar Governorate honored a number of Dhofar´s schools which participated in the Oman Volunteers Day 2018 and lasted for two days in various areas in Salalah, Taqah,Mirbat and Sadah. Also, the event was under the patronage of H.E Shaikh Salim Al Shanfri, the Head of Dhofar Municipality with presence of Dr.Tufool bint Suhail Katan,the Assistant Director General for Financial Affairs and Projects at the Education Directorate in Dhofar and a number of the concerned at media and volunteering field. At the beginning of the ceremony, Khamis Al Fahdi, the Director General of Social Development in Dhofar Governorate delivered the speech of Oman Volunteer Day where he said that the Sultanate Oman celebrated the Volunteer Day that marked 5 December every year with other countries. Moreover, he pointed out that the Sultanate put great concern on the volunteering work and there is the Sultan Qaboos Award for volunteerism to encourage and spread the voluntary work among society groups in the Sultanate in order to achieve the sustainable development. Finally, he thanked the patron of the event, Omani Women Associations, Al Bahaja Association for Orphans and the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar.In addition, the ceremony included a presentation of Omani Volunteering Day events and a cultural lecture titled# Volunteering in Islam by Abdullah Al Shehri,the Imam and Speaker at Sultan Qaboos Centre for Science and Culture. At the end, the Head of Dhofar Municipality honored a number of the contributing schools in the Volunteering Day, volunteers and others.
