Global Health Team of Trachoma Visits Muscat Schools

Trachoma global health team, who consisted of 30 experts, paid an official visit to Oman in order to view the health system experience to prevent Trachoma disease, which applied between Health Ministry and Education Ministry. They visited Al Ulaa Basic Education School in Bousher and received by Naeem Al Hajri, the Head of school. Then, Iman Al Zaidi, the School Health Nurse presented an introductory film about school health program and the role of a nurse in giving health care services to students such as school eye examination to school students and health culture workshop of personal and environment. After that, the team visited school buildings such as school health room, learning Centre room and simple heritage expo.
It is worth mentioning that trachoma global health team selected visiting the Sultanate because of its efficiency and ability of medical personnel to control trachoma for many years. In addition, Oman is the first country that recognized free of trachoma by the World Health Organization in 2012.Also,more than five years, trachoma does not exceed 0.04% in 20117 in Oman which show the progress level in providing primary and community health services in controlling trachoma field in the Sultanate.
