Ancient City of Qalhat Lecture in Muscat

In the occasion of the Unesco confession that the ancient city of Qalhat as World Heritage site, Oman National Committee for Education, Culture and Science and in collaboration with the National Museum in Muscat organized a lecture titled #The Ancient City of Qalhat from Local to Global# and delivered by DR.Humaid Al Nofli, the Director of Culture Department at Oman National Committee. It targeted a number of specialists and school students.
Moreover, the culture discussed diverse of axes. The first axes clarified the introduction board of natural and cultural sites that issued at the beginning of eighties, which concerned with the choosing sites to be nominated in future. The site of the ancient city of Qalhat is one of the first sites listed on the preliminary list of Omani sites via conducting excavations, an archaeological survey of aerial photography, as well as drawings to show the city#s highlights. The second axes of lecture talked about preparing the file related to Qlahat city to present to UNESCO later in 2014.Oman formed a national team to conduct nomination file from the Ministry of Heritage and Culture in order to collect historic information about the ancient city of Qalhat and the third axes included the exceptional global value of the ancient city as considered old political capital city for Oman and was part of Arabian Hurmoz Kingdom (from Al Ihsaa to Sur ).In addition, the lecturer in the fourth axes mentioned the factors that contributed to make ancient city of Qalhat to be on the World Heritage Site like the availability of world exceptional value, safety, law protection and originality and administration aspects.
