MoE Conducts School Sport and Afaaq Al Tajweed Symposium

Under the patronage of HE.Shaikh Saeed Al Marzoof, the Minster of Sport Affairs and in presence of Dr.Madiha Al Shibaaniah, the Minister of Education, School Sport and Afaaq Al Tajweed Symposium kicked off at Conferences Hall in SQU. The Ministry of Education implemented the symposium. It aimed to benefit from other pioneering international experiences in sport development field and exchange the local and global experiences in activating school sport subject.
Moreover, the opening ceremony included a speech by Dr.Humood Al Harthi, the Undersecretary of Minster of Education for Education and Curricula where he mentioned the importance of school sport and its role at educational process .He also added that the school sport considered as one of the beneficial educational aspects which aimed to build the character of the student in physical, mental, Psychological areas which reflected good results. Then, Ann Mackvil presented a work paper titled "Practices and Global Directions in Physical Education " where she reviewed several successful applied methods and techniques in teaching school physical education which included health , happiness and physical education.Also, she discussed the Similarities and differences between the public objectives in each country. In addition, the symposium focused on three axes, the 1st one represented school sport curricular, its standards, the modern teaching method, employing technology in the teaching and how to teach the school sport for special needs students. The 2nd axe included career development for school sport teachers which included career development programs and the standards to prepare a sport school teacher. The 3rd one discussed the modern attitudes and directions in designing and employing the school buildings which included building developed areas to achieve the educational objectives.
It is noted that 300 participants are teachers and supervisors from school sport subject at the education governorates, and the Ministry#s Cabinet specialists. Also, a number of participants will be from military and government institutions, Oman Sport Unions, Military Sport Unions and Oman Olympic Committee
