The Sultanate Celebrates the International Literacy Day, Today

Every year on 8 September, International Literacy Day is celebrated around the world in honor of literacy and to bring awareness to the importance of closing the literacy gap. Hence, represented by the Ministry of Education, the Sultanate joined the rest of world to celebrate the international literacy day and responding to the decision of general conference year consideredof September every ththe 8 in 1966 which states that of UNESCO that issuedas the global literacy day in order to create awareness and advocates for the adult and continuing education.
The ministry of education exerted great efforts and adopted various strategies, projects and programs for more than four decades and this achieved through inclusion of students in general education and expansion to build new schools and in order to achieve integration between general education and adult education.
Moreover, the number of the cooperated schools increased to more than 140 schools and learning villages became more than 30 schools by the end of the academic year. The ministry of education registered students in classes, provided school subjects and educational visual aids. Also, it planned several supervision visits to follow up the educational process in literacy classes and connected them with the educational portal. By highlighting the efforts at this occasion, the ministry of education calls people, those who cannot write or read to enroll in the literacy centers around the Sultanate. It is also to be noted that the enrollment is available until the October 12.
