MoE Conducts training Program of Sign Language in Muscat

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate General of Educational Programs, Special Education Programs Department implemented a training program of sign language basics, which will continue until the end of the month in the multipurpose Hall at the MoE. Also, twenty-five employees from various directorates in the ministry# cabinet participated in the program. Muna Al Akhzami, a Cultural Activity Specialist at the Activity Section and Sana Al Akhzami, a Teacher of Special Education at Al Amal Deaf School presented the program. It also included different axes such as the history of sign language and its definition, fingerprint alphabet, numbers in sign language and communication methods with deaf people. Moreover, the program hosted a number of deaf employees working at the Ministry of Education to interview the participants and measure how to use the sign vocabularies successfully. In addition, the program aimed to introduce the participants with the history of sign language to enable them to perform fingerprint alphabet, provide them with communication skills with deaf persons, facilitate dealing with disabled and spread the sign language among stuff in the Ministry of Education.
