MoE Conducts Fawasel Awareness Program to Protect Schools Students from Drugs

The Ministry of Education and in cooperation with National Committee for Drugs and Psychotropic Substances implemented Fawasel awareness Program to protect school’s students from drugs at age of 12 to 14.
Dr.Mahmood Zaher Al Abri, the Supervisor at the Executive Office of the National Committee for Drugs and Psychotropic Substances said that the drug issue considered a community cause and the whole world suffered from its social, psychological and educational dimension and the rapid spread of drugs among youth and teens which required the cooperation between community institutions to prevent them from drugs dangers. On the other sides, Maymoonah Al Manthari, the Educational Researchers in the Office of MoE#s Secretary for Education and Curriculum and the Genera Supervisor on experimental application for Fawasel awareness program added that the application was lunched to protect students from drugs in November2016 by the Arabian Mantoor Institute which is a regional branch in the International Mantoor Institute to help Arabic youth and children and protecting them from the dangerous behaviors. Also, the program targeted the school’s students at age of 12 to 14 years and included three Brochures (Parents, Specialist, applications). Moreover, she clarified that the Ministry of Education revised the content of Fawasel Program and was modified by the Arabian Mantoor to adapt the Omani Environment and schools curriculum to support the education process. The experimental application started at Muscat Governorate in February, the 26th and two schools was chosen in each Wilyat of Muscat Governorate (11 government schools and 3 private schools) as experimental samples.
