Today the Gulf Mathematics and Physics Olympiad Kicked Off in Riyadh

Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States will organize sixth Gulf Mathematics Olympiad GM02017 and Second Physics Olympiad GPH02017 in Riyadh during the period between 2to 5 April 2017. The Gulf Mathematics and Physics Olympiad is attended by 10 high school students from the members countries, six of them in the Mathematics Olympiad and four in the Physics Olympiad. They will compete to answer four atypical and in-depth questions that measure higher thinking levels in different areas of mathematics (algebra, geometry, number theory, constructs) and in Physics students will get through two competitions, one theoretical test measuring the different branches of physics, the other practical includes two experiments conducted by students and access to scientific and accurate measurements.

The Olympiad is supervising by a global team specializing in mathematics headed by Dr. Jeff Smith of the University of Bath in Britain and physics headed by Dr. Jean Calda of the University of Tallinn for Technology in Estonia
At the end of the Olympiad, gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates of appreciation will be distributed to the students according to their ability to answer these questions. Students and supervisors will have a chance to view the landmarks of Riyadh.
