Ministry of Education Conducts the National Campaign of Protection from Cyber Blackmail Seminar in Musandam

Under the patronage of HE.Shaikh Rashid Al
Kalbani,the Wali of Khasab and in presence of Ahmed Al Madhani, the Assistant Director General of Education Evaluation and Education Programs ,the
Ministry of Education organized a
seminar titled the National Campaign of Protection from Cyber Blackmail at the
Conferences Hall in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Khasab.Also ,the
campaign targeted the schools principles ,social and psychological specialists
,IT teachers and schools students in the governorate.
Moreover, a number of work papers were presented
in the seminar. Dr.Ali Tabok,the #Chief
Executive Officer of Middle East Centre Consulting and Social Studies presented the 1
st paper titled the
Cyber Blackmail and How it Affects the
Society where he mentioned that the students must have awareness of dangers of
blackmailing and encourages them to report any such cases they come across and the parents need to play important role in following and
observing their sons in using the smartphones when dealing with
social media networks .Also, he clarified the necessity to activate the role of parents
councils in order to stay connected with
school society and other parents and to
raise the awareness of negative
consequences of cyber blackmailing .Dr Ali, also added that the Omani project made a law to
deal with the IT crimes in 2011 and considered as modern legislation in the
area level. In addition, Tala Al Asmi,the Assistant Head of Electronic
Information Security at the Ministry of Education tilted the Impact of Cyber Blackmail at the Educational
Community where he discussed the impact
of cyber blackmail in the school achievement of students and their use of social media and chatting which
lead them to electronic blackmailing .He also talked about the technical
aspect and how to protect their accounts
using various methods such as strengthen the password and change privacy .He
stressed not to sell the personal
mobiles and laptops for anybody which facilitated for blackmailers to have personal photos and information.
