A number of 739 fourth grade students from 27 public and private schools in South Al Batinah governorate did the exam of measure reading skills (Pirl's 2016) yesterday morning in two sessions and each session was lasted for 40 minutes. The exam aimed to measure the reading and writing skills of the participated countries in a language study as well as to provide countries with a scientific data. In addition, the Directorate General of Education in South Al Batinah Governorate prepared for the international study of reading skills (Pirls 2016) for several months and hold meetings with administration schools which applied the study and local team members headed by Dr. Walid ibn Al Hinai, Director General of the governorate. Moreover, activating the media, local newspapers, websites and social media to spread awareness of study importance and exchange experiences and involvement of the local community and parents. Also to be mention that the international study was launched in 2001 with participation of 41 countries around the world, and in 2006 with participation of 50 countries, three of them were Arab countries, Qatar, Kuwait and Morocco, Oman also participated in 2011 for the first time and the exam carried out every five years.
