Al Batinah South Directorate Discusses the Media Campaign of PIRLS 2016

The Directorate General of Education in Al Batinah South represented by the Education Evaluation Department   discussed the media campaign of PIRLS 2016(Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) 2016 at the directorate´s theater in Rustaq and in presence of Khaifa Al Kalbani, Education Evaluation Department's Head, the Study Coordinators of schools which being applied this study and the head of mothers councils.
 In addition, the meeting started with a speech delivered by Khalifa Al Kalbani who welcomed the attendees and praised them for their excreted efforts. He also assured on the importance of Progress in International Reading Literacy Study within the students, clarified the necessity of activating the media campaign and intensifying the efforts to spread the awareness for society categories and made clear of involving guardians, mothers councils, broadcasting programs, folders and class and non-class activities.  During the meeting, PIRLS and its inauguration date were introduced and the head explained that PIRLS was launched in 2001 with participation of 41 diverse World countries and 50 countries in 2006, among them three Arab countries that were Qatar, Kuwait and Morocco. Also, Oman took part in PIRLS for the 1st time in 2011 After that, AL Shiaa School students presented a welcoming song of the international study and worksheet of the study identification  was delivered
It is also to be noted that Al Batinah South Directorate prepared earlier to apply the international study (PIRLS), conducted several coordinating meetings and procedures, chose the participating classes, determined study coordinators and connected with mothers' councils and local society.
