On the occasion of UNESCO’s 70th anniversary, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has made a Royal speech to the 38th round of the UNESCO General Conference, which is currently being held in the UNESCO premises, in Paris.
In his speech, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his delight over the convening of the 38th round of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris for exchange of views, expertise and knowledge for development of education, science and communications and on the future of joint efforts by all countries in light of the rapid developments witnessed worldwide.
His Majesty congratulated the UNESCO on the 70th anniversary of its inception and praised it for the role the organization has played and the progress achieved through its efforts. In addition, His Majesty said that the 70th anniversary of the UNESCO came at a time the world was aspiring continuation of the UNESCO’s Education for All Initiative and the UNESCO’s international program for education for sustainable development for 2015–2030.
Oman has since long adopted a policy of tolerance and cementing ties of love, friendship and peace among the peoples of the world.
HM also praised the international community for the care and attention accorded to science as well as its investment in renewable energy in fighting climate change and pollution. His Majesty the Sultan has also hails the efforts made for preservation of environment and biodiversity. The conference, which began on November 3, is scheduled to conclude on November 18.
