The Ministry of Education hosts the exceptional meeting of the council of UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning in Al Bustan Place Hotel. The meeting was organized in the presence of the Chairman of the Institute Board Directors, Director of the Institute, and a number of international figures, as well as Dr Madiha Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, who is a member of the Institute Board Directors.
 A joint meeting w also held on Tuesday morning under the auspices of Dr Rawia Al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education. The meeting discussed ways of strengthening cooperation between the International Institute for Educational Planning and various educational agencies in Oman. The meeting was held in the presence of the Chairman of the Institute Board Directors and the Director of the Institute, along with members of the Board of Directors, including Dr. Madiha Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Board of Education, councilors and educational experts, general-directors, representatives of government agencies concerned with education, and representatives of government and private universities in the Sultanate.

The  opening ceremony started by the Holy Quran recitation and  included the Sultanate Speech to be delivered by Saud Al Balushi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Planning and Development of Human Resources, and the main paper of the Institute, presented by Dr. Berger Fredericksen, Chairman of the Board of the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning, entitled 'The Role of International Organizations (and All International Partners) in Educational Development Worldwide.
 
The meeting also included two sessions headed by undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Planning and Human Resources Development, including building sustainable capacity policies and planning for the education sector, international trends in educational funding and the growing importance of planning, and future cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the international institute.
