Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environment Protection special film screened at UNESCO

In response to an invitation from the Lithuanian Ambassador and Chairman of the UNESCO Diplomatic Club, Ambassador Dr Moosa bin Jaafar, Advisor to the Sultanate’s Permanent delegate to UNESCO and Secretary-General of the Diplomatic Club, The Sultanate’s permanent delegate to UNESCO presented a special film on Sultan Qaboos Award for Environment Preservation at a special event, was held in the Diplomatic Club at UNESCO in Paris.

Organised in coordination with Dr Samira bint Mohammed bin Moosa Al Moosa, Sultanate’s Permanent Delegate to the UNESCO, the event was attended by Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director-General, Shaikh Humaid bin Ali al Maani, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the French Republic, members of the Permanent Delegate, the Military Attaché Col Said bin Khalfan al Nabhani and the film director, as well as a number of permanent delegates to the UNESCO.

Irina Bokova delivered a speech where she highlighted the status of the Award since inception and its positive effect on environment, which has attracted attention for researchers and governments.

The attendees expressed their appreciation for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for dedicating this award and its great effect in protecting global environment.  The film included sceneries from the Sultanate, the winning countries and an interview with Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education on the award, its importance and selection process. They also hailed the Sultanate’s efforts in protecting the environment.
