As Oman is considered among the leading countries that supports craft industries and within the celebration events to choose Nizwa as a Capital City of Islamic Culture, Marfa Dares Basic Education School organized an open day for traditional handcrafts. The idea began when the school administration invited a number of creative mothers to participate in making some traditional crafts and each mother sat on a corner during a break time with their tools to create beautiful traditional pieces.
Moreover, mothers made various crafts that reflect the social culture of the society Such as "Al Faraeekh" and Sheelah: a colorful long scarf put on the head of women, children cap, Omani traditional dishdasha, "Al Wars" yellow liquid for skin softness and date palms crafts. Also alongside the event, other women sold some medical herbs and plants like "Zamoota " which is used for stomach gas.
