Oman participates with other countries in International Study in Math and Science (TIMSS2015).The global study concentrates on skills and abilities of students in math and science in class 4 and 8 .
The Study records students achievements at these subjects in  more than 60 education systems around the world and is designed to measure the differences between national educational systems and explain them to develop and improve learning and teaching approaches of math and science over the world .   
308 schools of  class 4, 310 schools of class 8 from all governorate at the Sultanates and some private  international schools take part  in this initiative. It is also to be noted that these schools were selected by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) in Amsterdam.
Currently , specialists of International Studies Section in the Directorate General of Education Evaluation organize introductory workshops for teachers of the selected  subjects .In addition, the workshops introduces the participants with various information such as study’s concept , its objectives, and the organizing party as well as presenting topics related to the study tool.  It also aims to clarify questionnaires of school principals, math and science teachers , students and parents of students of class 4. Moreover , in the workshop, the teachers will be trained on specifications of optional and essay questions. The workshop will conclude by a practical training on how to form  a group of questions from  different knowledge aspects.
