14/12/2025

Hamad Al-Sarhani, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Educational Administration Affairs, inaugurated the documentary exhibition “Insight into Our National Heritage” at the Omar Bin Al-Khattab Institute for the Blind, which was organized by the National Records and Archives Authority in partnership with the Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning.

The organization of this exhibition comes within the framework of joint efforts to promote cultural inclusion and enable visually impaired students to access historical knowledge in interactive ways that suit their needs.

The exhibition was designed to allow students and visitors to learn about national documents through an innovative educational experience that combines written descriptions in Braille, AI-supported audio technologies, and tangible models that mimic old writing and preservation tools, giving visitors a deeper understanding of the details of Omani history in a sensory and comprehensive way. The educational path within the exhibition was designed to enhance students’ national identity and bring them closer to the nation’s heritage in a way that considers their abilities and enriches their passion for knowledge.

Khalid Al-Rawahi, Director of the Omar bin Al-Khattab Institute for the Blind, affirmed that organizing this exhibition represents a significant step in empowering visually impaired students. He pointed out that providing documentary content in multiple formats opens new horizons for students in learning and gives them the opportunity to interact directly with elements of national history. He added that these initiatives reflect the commitment of educational institutions to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities, ensuring that knowledge reaches everyone without exception.

The exhibition seeks to enable visually impaired people to easily access national documents by providing adapted copies with tangible and alternative visual means that allow them to read and interact with the content without obstacles. It works to promote the principle of cultural inclusion and equal opportunities in benefiting from knowledge by making the same historical content available to all visitors of different abilities, thus giving everyone a fair and balanced knowledge experience. It also aims to introduce students to the ancient history of the Sultanate of Oman and consolidate national belonging by displaying documents that embody important stages of the nation’s history in ways close to their understanding. In addition, it provides an innovative educational experience that enriches the historical sense through interactive tools and an audio-tactile description that enhances understanding of the past and brings the value of the document closer to the learner.
