Ministry of Education receives Shield of Appreciation in Updating Data on the National Open Data Portal

The Ministry of Education received the shield of appreciation presented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in recognition of its continuous efforts in regularly updating educational data on the National Open Data Portal, and its prominent role in supporting the digital transformation system, enhancing transparency, and making data available to serve the community, researchers and various governmental and private entities.

The honoring took place during an official event organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in the presence of a number of officials and specialists in the fields of digital transformation and government data, where institutions that achieved the highest levels of compliance and data quality were honored. The Ministry of Education was among the most committed and accurate entities in updating data and continuing to publish it.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology affirmed that the Ministry of Education is one of the most prominent entities supporting data readiness efforts, through its role in improving the efficiency of government data and adapting it for research, academic and developmental uses. This achievement is consistent with the government’s directions towards enhancing digital governance and achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Dr. Faisal Al-Busaidi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Information Technology, stated: “This recognition acknowledges the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop and update the educational data system according to the highest standards, thereby enhancing transparency and supporting decision-makers and researchers. Our teams have been committed to ensuring the quality of published data and developing systems that guarantee the continuous and accurate flow of information. We will continue to develop digital infrastructure and strengthen integration among educational systems to create an advanced data infrastructure that meets the needs of relevant institutions and supports the national open data system.”

Said Al-Wahibi, the project manager and head of the educational portal interface department, said that “this achievement is the result of extensive cooperation between the technical and administrative departments, as the team worked on preparing, verifying, and publishing the data according to the specified standards, while adhering to the technical review stages to ensure the accuracy of the published content. We will continue to raise the readiness of the data and enhance its accessibility, providing reliable sources of information that support analysis, research, and decision-making.”

Ahmed Al-Farsi, Head of the Databases Department, and a member of the technical team, explained the team's commitment to monitoring data quality and ensuring its structural integrity before publication, through the application of rigorous verification and synchronization mechanisms. Despite the challenges related to data integration and updating, they were able to overcome them efficiently thanks to collaborative efforts. He added, "We are committed to developing data management processes, improving review procedures, and standardizing criteria, which enhances the reliability of data published on open data platforms. This recognition motivates us to continue our work and complete development projects that support data quality and digital transformation in the education sector."

The Ministry of Education seeks to continue supporting national open data initiatives, and to improve the readiness and scope of educational data, based on its role in promoting knowledge and scientific research and achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
