The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry’s Security Office, organized an awareness meeting for school principals in the governorate. The meeting targeted 200 school security directors and supervisors, under the patronage of Brigadier Ali Al Noufli, Commander of the Royal Oman Police in Muscat Governorate. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Al Shukaili, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat Governorate, and a number of officers, administrators, supervisors, and those interested in the field of school security and safety. The meeting was held at the Directorate’s theater in Al Khuwair City.
The meeting included the presentation of four working papers. The first paper, titled “Security and Safety in Schools,” was presented by Lieutenant Salem Al-Hattali, an officer at the Traffic Safety Institute of the Royal Oman Police. The second paper, titled “Towards a Safe and Stimulating Environment for Learning,” was presented by Fahm Al-Shahimi, Head of the School Security and Safety Section at the Ministry’s Security Office. The third paper, titled “The Sense of Psychological Security in the School Environment,” was presented by Omar Al-Hanai, Head of the Psychological Counseling Section at the Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling Center. The fourth paper, titled “Safety Procedures in Government Schools,” was presented by Mubarak Al-Maashari, an officer at the Civil Defense and Ambulance Center in the Wilayat of Bausher.
The meeting aims to enhance the security awareness of principals of the Muscat Governorate Schools Sector, familiarize them with how to deal with various security agencies in various school situations, highlight the efforts of the Ministry, the Royal Oman Police, and the Civil Defense in the field of security and safety in school buildings, and learn the steps for obtaining a civil protection permit for school buildings.
