The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning, and the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Institute for the Blind celebrated International White Cane Day, which is a global symbol of the freedom and independence of people with visual impairments. It also aims to raise community awareness of their role and the need to support and empower them in various fields.

The ceremony began with a Quranic recitation, a poem, and a theatrical performance that delivered meaningful messages about the importance of the white cane and its role in the lives of the blind, along with raising awareness of the need to preserve the environment. The institute's students also participated in a group song and interactive competitions, adding a joyful atmosphere.

During the interactive activities, a number of scientific and educational corners were implemented that attracted the attention of students and visitors, most notably: a health awareness corner in cooperation with Dr. Nutrition; a planet Earth awareness corner in partnership with the German University of Technology; and an environmental inventor corner, where student Saif Al-Hashar showcased his distinguished innovation, the "Smart Container." In addition, there were solar cells and a magic dough corner, which presented interactive educational content.

The celebration also included a series of accompanying community events, most notably: a white cane march with the participation of students and teachers; chess competitions for the blind, which showcased the participants' highly intellectual skills; recreational activities organized by the "Our Birds Draw Smiles" team; and a student companies presentation from the Career Guidance Department, which highlighted student projects that reflect a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.

At the conclusion of the event, the Institute honored the participating and supporting entities and institutions, expressing their gratitude and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this day. They also affirmed their ongoing commitment to empowering people with visual disabilities and enhancing their active presence in society through education, creativity, and community engagement.
