A delegation from the Ministry of Education participated in the MILSET Expo‑Sciences International (ESI 2025), held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This forum is one of the most prominent international non-competitive scientific events, dedicated to fostering the spirit of innovation among young people and opening up broad horizons for cooperation between educational and research institutions worldwide. More than 2,000 students and young people, ranging in age from 13 to 25, representing over 45 countries, participated in the event to present their scientific and innovative projects and exchange experiences in a stimulating scientific environment.
The forum aims to spread scientific culture and promote innovation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, while encouraging the younger generation to pursue scientific research and offer creative solutions to future challenges. It also seeks to strengthen international relations among young innovators and connect them with future academic and professional opportunities through scientific platforms that include exhibitions, workshops, seminars, leadership meetings, and cultural activities.
The Sultanate of Oman participated in this forum with a number of student projects representing the Ministry of Education, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and the University of Nizwa. The Ministry of Education participated with two student teams representing the South Al Batinah Governorate and the North Al Batinah Governorate.
Samia Al Kharousi and students Ghalia Al Riyami and Ghaida Al Kharousi from Salma Bint Qais School represented the South Al Batinah Governorate team and participated with a scientific project titled “National Ointment.” The project aims to extract a medical ointment from natural Omani ingredients that contributes to accelerating wound healing.
The second team, from Al Batinah Basic Education School in North Al Batinah Governorate, participated with an innovative technical project titled “Baseera,” which offers a smart solution to integrate the deaf and hearing-impaired into society through a device that provides them with assistance without relying on others. The team was represented by supervisor Abdullah Al Roushdi, and students Abdulrahman Al Farsi and Al Hussein Al Balushi. The project booth witnessed remarkable interaction from visitors, especially those interested in assistive technology, with many of those in attendance expressing their admiration for the project’s concept and its humanitarian and social value.
In a statement, Hilal Al Khaziri, Assistant Director of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department and Head of the Ministry of Education delegation, emphasized that participation in this international event comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts to enhance the presence of Omani students in international scientific forums and enable them to showcase their innovations to a wide international audience. He added that the Ministry is keen to support students and teachers participating in the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovation and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence competitions by providing them with the opportunity to engage in global experiences that contribute to developing their capabilities and honing their skills and encouraging them to pursue scientific research as a promising future path.
