The Omani Writers and Literati Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, launched the third edition of the Literary Creativity Award for students in public, private and special education schools. The ceremony was held under the patronage of HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, and in the presence of Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqlawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Writers and Literati Association, a number of employees from the Department of Educational Activities concerned with the cultural aspect, members of the Omani Writers and Literati Association, and invitees, in the Ibn Ruzaiq Hall at the Association’s headquarters in the Airport Heights.
HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, delivered the Ministry’s speech in which he pointed out the importance of the partnership between the two institutions in enriching the literary aspect, as the launch of the third edition of the Omani Writers and Literati Association Award for Literary Creativity represents an importance in terms of increasing the number of participating students from (1500) students to (3000) students in the various fields of the award, which include poetry recitation, speaking in classical Arabic, short stories, classical poetry, and analysis of literary texts, which presented student models that achieved advanced positions locally and regionally.
Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqlawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Writers and Literati Association, said: “The third edition of the Omani Writers and Literati Association’s Award for Literary Creativity for School Students comes after the success of the first and second editions in terms of the number of participating students from various educational governorates. The Omani Writers and Literati Association is committed to the sustainability of this award, given its effective role in stimulating, encouraging, and pushing creative talents forward, providing its capabilities, managing financial resources, and activating positive energies to consolidate it culturally and media-wise, and activating it socially, given its importance in cultural development and its outcomes in creating writers and creators of the future.”
The launch ceremony included a visual presentation on the award's objectives, target groups, areas of application, terms and conditions, general and technical controls for the competition, and other developments in the third edition.
The award aims to strengthen channels of cooperation and communication between the Association, the Ministry of Education, educational institutions and schools, highlight the importance of literary work among all segments of society, especially students and young people in schools, and develop a spirit of competition among students in winning literary awards, which contributes to improving their literary productions and enhancing their talents and creativity, encouraging literary writings among young students and adolescents, working to publish distinguished literary productions of the competition winners, strengthening the association’s role in serving the community and raising awareness of the importance of literature among segments of society, especially young people.
