Our school team is participating in the Arab Schools Championship, being held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from August 17-28 at the Sports City in the Jordanian capital. The official opening of the championship took place on Tuesday evening, August 19.
The Sultanate of Oman's delegation to the tournament is headed by Abdullah Al Fouri, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
Our school team is participating in the boys' futsal five-a-side football competition and the girls' 3x3 basketball competition. Both participating teams have completed their preparations for this competition by holding training camps for each team during the previous period.
Nidal Al Mughairy, coach of our national girls' 3x3 basketball team, said: "The team is fully prepared to compete in the tournament after an intensive preparation period that included physical and technical training, as well as an internal camp aimed at enhancing readiness and honing skills. The technical staff and players have demonstrated a high level of commitment and fighting spirit throughout all stages of preparation, reflecting the great ambition to achieve positive results."
She added: "We are confident in our players' ability to deliver a distinguished performance befitting the nation's name and embodying a positive image of Omani sports. We hope that this participation is a new step towards enhancing the presence of women's basketball at the regional and international levels. We are very proud of our players and have great confidence that they can translate this effort into tangible achievements that will raise the Sultanate's flag high."
For its part, our national futsal team completed its preparations for the tournament under the leadership of coach Salman Al-Madyouli and his assistant Sultan Al-Balushi, through two training camps held in Muscat.
