Ministry of Education announces Results of the Winning Projects in the Shell NXplorers Program

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Innovation and Science Olympiad, in cooperation with Oman Shell, announced the results of the winning projects in the "Shell NXplorers" program, under the patronage of HE Halima bint Rashid Al Zar'i, Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, and in the presence of Malak Al Shaibani, General Manager of External Affairs and In-Country Value at Oman Shell. This program comes within the framework of supporting innovative thinking and enabling students to find sustainable solutions to future challenges.

Hilal Al Khazairi, Assistant Director of the Innovation and Science Olympiad Department said: “We celebrate the conclusion of the sixth edition of the Shell NXplorers program, which over the years has provided a promising platform for enhancing students’ capabilities and motivating them to propose realistic and innovative solutions to vital issues. This program has proven its success with the generous support of Oman Shell and its deep belief in the importance of investing in the energies of young people.”

The results of the (seniors) youth category for old schools for students in grades (9-11) were as follows: Al Amal School (10-12), from the South Al Batinah Governorate won first place with their Sustain Pack project. The Pro-green project of Umm Al Fadl School (5-12) from the Dakhiliyah Governorate won second place, and third place went to Al Asmaa Bint Al Harith School (10-12) from the North Al Batinah Governorate for their Ruth Less project. Fatima Bint Qais School (11-12) came in fourth place with their Palm-X project, and fifth place went to Hajj School (1-12), from the Al Wusta Governorate with their GREEN OYSTER project.

In the same category for new schools, Lubaba Bint Al Harith School (9-12) from South Al Sharqiyah Governorate won first for their Behind The Waste project. In second place was Saad Bin Ubadah School (5-12) from Al ADhahirah Governorate for its Pure and Everlasting Biodiesel project. In third place was the Eco Balls project from Al Dhahir School (5-12) from North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. In fourth place was Wadi Mustal School (1-12) from South Al Batinah Governorate for its Eco-Pectin project. In fifth place was Hail Al Awamer School (9-12) from Muscat Governorate for their Bio Plast project.

In the junior category for students in grades (5-8), Abu Bakr Al Siddiq School (5-9) from Musandam Governorate was crowned with the “A Drop of the Sun” project. In second place came Ziyad Bin Al Muhallab School (5-8) from North Al Batinah Governorate, for its “Tawfiri” project. Third place went to the “Tea Plus” project from Al Touq School (1-9) from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Fourth place went to Al Farouq School (5-8) from Al Buraimi Governorate, with the “Heat2 Power” project. Fifth place went to Bahr Oman School (1-12) from South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with the “ALGA PLANT TECH” project.

It's worth noting that the program began in 2018 in partnership between the Ministry of Education and Oman Shell. The program aims to develop students' creative thinking and analytical skills, encourage them to find innovative ways to solve challenges in the areas of food, water, and energy, and encourage them to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
