The Directorate-General of Vocational and Technical Education is implementing the intensive summer English program for vocational and technical education students majoring in business administration and information technology for the third consecutive year, in cooperation with the Polyglot Institute – Muscat and Sohar branches.

This summer program falls within the framework of the Ministry of Education's ambitious vision to improve vocational and technical education outcomes. The Ministry, represented by the Directorate-General of Vocational and Technical Education, is committed to providing students with the skills necessary to meet the demands of university education and the labor market.

The program targets (300) students nominated for the BETC program in the specializations of Business Administration and Information Technology from the schools implementing the program in the Muscat Governorate, namely: (Nusaybah Bint Kaab Basic Education School for Girls, and Hafs Bin Rashid Basic Education School for Boys), and the North Al Batinah Governorate, namely: (Ya’rub Bin Bal’arab Basic Education School for Boys, Al-Asma’ Bint Al-Harith Basic Education School for Girls).

Dr. Sultan Al Kindi, Acting Director-General of the Directorate-General of Vocational and Technical Education, said: “The Ministry continues to implement a series of qualitative training programs that contribute to enhancing applied and linguistic skills and instilling in students a culture of practical learning linked to future needs. In this context, the Ministry launched this intensive program to develop students’ linguistic proficiency and provide them with the necessary tools for effective communication in diverse academic and professional environments. Such initiatives are a fundamental pillar in building a renewed vocational education system characterized by flexibility and rapid response to technological and cognitive developments, as they focus on empowering students with 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.”

Dr. Atom Al Khatri, Director of Student Guidance and Services Department, emphasized that requiring students to pass the English language entrance exam at an above-intermediate level is one of the basic criteria for enrollment in the intensive training program. This reflects the commitment to targeting highly prepared students who can truly benefit from the program's academic and applied content. These programs represent a real opportunity to enhance the personal and professional aspects of vocational and technical education students, as they effectively contribute to building self-confidence, stimulating a spirit of initiative, and developing communication skills and adapting to different environments. These are essential elements in comprehensively preparing students to enter future university and professional experiences with confidence and competence.”
