National Workshop to Enhance the Integration of Omani Teacher Preparation Efforts
The Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, organized a workshop titled: Integrating the Efforts of Government Institutions Relevant to Preparing Omani Teachers. The workshop brings together a select group of academics, educators, and specialists from a number of government units and institutions.
Participating in this workshop are the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, the Ministry of Labor, the State Audit and Administrative Authority, Sultan Qaboos University, and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences.
The workshop comes as a continuation of the efforts of the Ministry of Education in employing Omani teachers and raising the percentage of Omanisation in the teaching position in government schools, as the number of teachers who were employed during the past ten years reached (25) thousand teachers. This workshop is a practical step towards aligning its objectives with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, seeking to achieve the indicator (raising the percentage of Omanisation in the education sector in government schools), by attracting Omani cadres who have completed their university studies in educational specializations; in order to appoint them as new teachers in the educational field after they pass the appointment controls set by the Ministry.
The workshop included a number of presentations and qualitative initiatives aimed at increasing the percentage of Omanisation in the male teaching profession. This will be achieved by exploring opportunities for empowerment and recruitment, and proposing paths that will contribute to accelerating the enrollment of young Omani males in the teaching profession, in line with the growing interest of females in this profession. The workshop's primary goal is to develop a number of projects and initiatives necessary to accelerate the recruitment of young males into the teaching profession, keeping pace with the accelerating trend among females.
