The Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center at the Ministry of Education launched the (Guidance Oasis) platform: the first technical professional community concerned with discussing topics of psychological and social counseling in the educational field, with the participation of about (90) supervisors of psychological and social counseling from various educational directorates in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The platform aims to provide a unified professional space for discussing psychological and social topics and issues in the school environment, presenting school initiatives, exchanging experiences and expertise, monitoring behavioral, psychological, and social changes among students, and working together to develop guidance and awareness programs to protect young people in line with established treatment plans.

The launch began with a video presentation by HE Prof. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, in which he emphasized the importance of this initiative (Guidance Oasis) in enhancing communication and exchanging expertise, experiences and initiatives between psychological and social guidance supervisors in various educational directorates in the governorates, and in reading the psychological and social variables and challenges facing students in schools, and dealing with them efficiently.

Sheikh Yaqoub bin Saif Al Shehaimi, Director-General of the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center, highlighted the importance of a digital community for psychological and social counseling, saying: “Investing in the digital environment is one of the goals the center seeks to achieve, in line with the Ministry’s drive towards digital transformation. This includes providing an interactive digital environment to provide career guidance and student counseling services, and building a professional community that brings together all psychological and social counseling supervisors in one place to showcase their initiatives and work, and to continuously review the latest developments, various experiences, and diverse methods offered by psychological and social counseling supervisors in schools to achieve the psychological and social well-being of our students.”

Fadel Hadrami, Director of the Guidance and Awareness Department at the Ministry, said: "The Guidance Oasis platform represents a professional community for psychological and social guidance supervisors, and an internal link between the Guidance and Awareness Department and the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Departments in the educational directorates. It plays a key role in responding to psychological and social issues raised in the educational field, providing specialized educational content in guidance, and awareness sessions for members of the professional community; to raise the level of services provided, and to monitor developmental observations in the group work environment."

It is worth noting that the Guidance Oasis platform was designed using the Microsoft Viv Engage program on the Microsoft platform, in cooperation with the Directorate-General of Information Technology. It will be implemented in two phases: the first phase during the current academic semester and includes psychological and social guidance supervisors from various educational directorates. The second phase will be implemented in the first semester of the next academic year 2025/2026, to include all psychological and social specialists from various educational directorates.
