Minister of Education Heads the Sultanate of Oman Delegation to the Ninth Meeting of GCC Ministers of Education

HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, headed the Sultanate of Oman's delegation to the Ninth Meeting of GCC Ministers of Education, held today in Kuwait.

The meeting discussed several topics aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration between the ministries of education in the GCC countries. The meeting reviewed the Gulf Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028), which includes several proposals aimed at developing educational and training programs in this field. The meeting also discussed developing the work of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), ways to enable it to support the work of ministries of education and keep pace with current and future transformations and developments in education.

Regarding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the meeting agreed to include some national indicators developed by the ministries of education in the GCC countries in the reports for Goal 4 of the UN goals, to highlight the role of the GCC countries globally. The meeting also reviewed the strategic plan of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Scouts and Guides Committee (2026-2030), the internal and international programs and activities of Scouts and Guides, and discussed the study being conducted by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States to enhance financial literacy among school students and benefit from it. A number of joint initiatives were also reviewed, including initiatives presented by the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding school sports, the sports exchange for talented and distinguished teachers in the GCC countries, and the strategic transformation in public education.
