The Ministry of Education signed two cooperation agreements with the Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO). The first is to fund the second edition of the OMIFCO School Creativity Award, and the second is to fund the National Student Scientific Innovation Olympiad project and robotics and artificial intelligence competitions. The two agreements were signed by HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, and Said bin Salem Al Salmi, Director-General of Human Resources and Work Culture at OMIFCO.
HE Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, said: “We are pleased to sign two agreements with OMIFCO, a company that supports the Ministry of Education. The first agreement provides for funding scientific innovations and Olympiad competitions specializing in robotics and artificial intelligence. Modern science is based on robotics and the use of artificial intelligence, and the presence of such support helps develop these competitions and activities at the national level. The second agreement is related to the OMIFCO School Creativity Award, and this award is in its second edition, which targets schools as an integrated system and in several fields, including: planning, community partnership, administrative organization, and others.”
Dr. Mia Al Azri, Director of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department, spoke about the fourth edition of the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, saying: “This Olympiad is a scientific competition offered to schools at the beginning of the academic year to compete in presenting innovations and innovative ideas in a number of scientific fields. Different schools from grades (5-11) compete to present innovative solutions to the challenges facing various sectors. The competition goes through several stages: first, the elimination at the level of educational directorates, then the competition at the level of the Sultanate, which is held in December of each year. The number of participating projects reached (68) projects from various educational directorates, (33) teams in robotics and artificial intelligence competitions, and (11) teams in the drone competition. Among the new developments in the fourth edition of the Olympiad is the cybersecurity competition for school students.”
The OMIFCO School Creativity Award is given every two academic years to honor high-performing public schools in carrying out their core functions in strategic planning, administrative organization, quality of performance, and community partnership. These schools achieve outstanding performance indicators to achieve their set goals through the development of highly accurate plans based on accurate data. The award seeks to motivate schools to innovate by achieving the highest levels of integrated planning, quality of performance, and distinguished administrative organization with effective community partnership. A set of detailed criteria falls within these areas, accurately measuring administrative and technical practices through specific indicators that aim to raise school performance levels.
The award aims to strengthen the educational system to achieve the pillars of school education in Oman Vision 2040, stimulate school administrative organization skills, and raise student achievement by enhancing the quality of school performance, promoting integrated school construction and strategic planning, creating a collaborative community environment between the school and the community, and creating a competitive environment in the educational field.
