The Ministry of Education, represented by the Khazna project to instill principles of financial culture among school students, in cooperation with Oman Arab Bank, launched the training program “Money Adventures with Young Savers”, under the patronage of HE Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs (Chairman of the Main Committee of the Khazna Project). The program targets (3,000) students in all educational directorates in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman in the first phase of its implementation.
Dr. Haifa Al Maamari, Director of the Khazna Project, said: “The training program ‘Money Adventures with Young Savers’ is a pioneering program in its field, as it aims to instill the concepts of financial culture, focusing on saving, in our children from an early age. It will enable the targeted students from grades (4-6) to understand the concepts of money and saving, in a fun and interactive way. This program is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of future partnerships related to spreading awareness among our students.”
Sulaiman Al Harthi, CEO of Oman Arab Bank, spoke about this partnership with the Ministry, saying: “The content of the workshops included in the program has been designed in a simple and engaging manner. We have ensured that it includes promoting responsible financial behaviors such as saving and budgeting to prepare students to face future financial challenges and train them to plan their financial affairs well. We also help them understand money, how to earn it, the importance of spending wisely, and participating in charitable work.”
This training program, implemented in cooperation with Oman Arab Bank, aims to introduce students to the world of money and the basic skills for managing it wisely. It also aims to introduce students to how to earn money, save it, spend it wisely, and share it to help others. It also covers homes, cars, and digital money that we use through various applications. This awareness is achieved through an interactive training workshop, during which students receive an interactive bag with a smart piggy bank to instill the value and importance of saving.
The training program aims to build bridges of communication between the Ministry, represented by the Khazna project, and the banking sector by adopting initiatives dedicated to raising financial awareness among school students that will help them make informed financial decisions in the future. It also aims to raise a financially aware generation that possesses planning and responsibility skills, capable of positively impact their daily lives and futures.
